The New Social Network
All of the internet has been talking about Google’s newest e-product, Google Plus. Now in its public beta stages, the new social networking platform seems to be aiming to become the new super power in online social networking. The site has a lot of buzz going for it, and a lot of features that are appealing to social networking users, showing that Google Plus may be a real threat to Facebook.
Google Plus is incredibly similar to Facebook in theory. Basically you add friends and you share things with them, your thoughts, pictures, videos, interesting links and tons of other things. However, Google Plus differs in a few key ways. First, Google is the company behind the platform, a company trusted several times over by the internet world, and while not trusted by all, most will admit that Google seems like a safer place for their information. Next, Google Plus allows you to easily choose who to share your media with. Want only your friends to see those crazy pictures? No problem, just a few mouse clicks and your work contacts will not have access to them. Finally, and most importantly, Google Plus is free from guerrilla advertisers.
Small businesses and bands have a good history of crashing the social networking party with out-dated marketing techniques. Typically these people do not engage their customers and offer little way to opt-out. Users do not like to sign on to their favorite sites only to see ads for small businesses, canada goose, invites to concerts several hours outside of their town or events that have no interest to them. The casual nature of sites like Facebook encourage this activity and while on the surface it may not seem like a big deal, users do take notice and will quickly get sick of it.
As a social platform the site seems well suited to the needs of its audience. Offering a more professional experience like Facebook originally offered Google Plus is in position to make some massive gains as soon as they officially open for business.Reference Address:
